Are Metalbirds environmentally friendly?Updated 22 days ago

Yes. And not in a greenwashed, “stick-a-leaf-logo-on-it” kind of way. We design for longevity, cut waste where we can, and partner with organisations doing the heavy lifting for birds and the planet.

  • Made to last: Every Metalbird is cut from premium Corten® steel (70%+ recycled). It weathers beautifully, doesn’t need replacing, and is fully recyclable at end of life.

  • Mostly plastic-free packaging: We use recycled cardboard and biodegradable inks. But let’s be honest—some courier mailers and odd bits of shipping supply are still plastic. We’re working on it.

  • Offsetting more than we use: Through our partnership with Plastic Collective, we offset twice the plastic we create (2:1). For every gram we use, we fund the recovery and recycling of double. It’s independently audited every year.

  • Full conservation partnerships: This isn’t just lip service—we co-create products, run campaigns, and donate proceeds to bird conservation partners around the world, including BirdLife Australia in Australia. See our "Do You Support Bird Conservation" article for more.

When you hammer a Metalbird into a tree, you’re not just adding art to your garden—you’re joining a global art project that funds real conservation, fights plastic waste, and makes the world a bit wilder (in the good way).
